Karol Kemp has served as the City of Spanish Fort’s Municipal Prosecutor since 2001, where she has successfully prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor and traffic cases and worked with many victims of crime. She previously served as a Baldwin County Assistant District Attorney from 1992 to 1997, starting in the child support division, then serving as the child abuse prosecutor and finally serving as the Presiding Judge’s felony prosecutor, before going into private practice. Besides having her own clients, Karol also serves as a certified mediator helping litigants of other attorneys to bring closure to their domestic relations matters. She was appointed as the Baldwin County Court Referee in 2022, where under the Presiding Judge’s supervision, she hears the County’s child support and paternity cases, as well as DHR and private child dependency actions.

Karol ran her own law firm for nearly 20 years and recently rejoined the Fairhope-based Wilkins, Bankester, Biles & Wynne law firm last year, a firm she previously spent 6 years with earlier in her career.

Karol graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management from Western Kentucky University in 1989 and earned her law degree from the University of Alabama in 1992. She formerly served as President of the Baldwin County Bar Association and is a current member of the Baldwin Court Services Board of Directors. She previously served as the Chair of the Baldwin County Grievance Committee and is a former Board Member for The Lighthouse, a family violence shelter that services needs throughout Southwest Alabama.

She is a current member of the Eastern Shore Republican Women and South Baldwin Republican Women.

Karol and her husband George reside in the Fish River community and enjoy spending time on the water with their children Corinne, Sam and Bella, and their four-year-old grandson, Crew. They also have four beloved pets, including three adopted rescue animals.
